Tour Description

DAY 1

Your journey into the vibrant heart of the Peruvian jungle begins with your arrival at the airport, followed by a brief Puerto Maldonado city tour. We will then embark on a motorboat at Puerto Capitanía to delve into the jungle's depths for a 2-hour ride, leading you to the lodge.

Upon arrival, savor a traditional Amazonian lunch before setting out on an excursion to Cocha Caiman, a quaint lagoon teeming with black and white alligators. Enjoy a breathtaking sunset before heading back to the lodge for a delectable dinner.

DAY 2

Following breakfast, we embark on a trek deep into the jungle. Along the journey, you'll witness the flood forest and an array of diverse flora and fauna, culminating at the stunning Lake Apu Victor. Ascend to the Amazon viewpoint for a panoramic vista of the lake and its magnificent surroundings. We will then return to the lodge for a satisfying lunch.

In the afternoon, we explore Monkey Island, where a hike offers the chance to observe a variety of monkey species and, with a bit of luck, even lazy bears. As the day concludes, enjoy another splendid sunset before returning to the lodge for a delightful dinner.

DAY 3

After breakfast, our adventure continues with a walk through the dense jungle to reach Cocha Perdida, a haven for diverse wildlife such as otters, alligators, and turtles. We'll arrive at the Amazon Viewpoint to admire the jungle's beauty, followed by canoeing around the lake. Afterward, return to the lodge for lunch.

Later in the day, you can choose to visit the local Botanical Garden or relax with a refreshing swim in the river. We will then head back to the lodge for dinner.

DAY 4

After breakfast, we will journey back to Puerto Maldonado to ensure you catch your next flight on time.

Tambopata is a year-round nature destination. The dry season (May to October) offers clearer skies, passable trails, and optimal conditions for wildlife viewing; nights can be cool, with occasional cold snaps dropping to 12–16°C. The rainy season (November to April) brings heavy downpours, swollen rivers, and lush vegetation, along with a higher concentration of mosquitoes. Daytime temperatures typically range from 22–32°C with high humidity. Pack a raincoat, sunscreen, and insect repellent. Peak season is from June to September; advance booking is recommended. Wildlife can be observed year-round, with spectacles like macaw clay licks being particularly active during the dry season.

For this excursion to the Peruvian jungle, pack lightweight, quick-drying clothing, long-sleeved shirts and pants in neutral colors, a raincoat, hat, sunglasses, headlamp, power bank, reusable water bottle, dry bag, binoculars, and camera. Add insect repellent (DEET or icaridin) and sunscreen. It is recommended to consult a doctor about yellow fever vaccination and malaria/dengue prevention measures based on your individual needs. Purchase travel insurance that covers medical evacuation and cancellations. For safety, always follow the guide's instructions, wear a life jacket while navigating, stay on the marked trails, and do not feed the wildlife. Bring cash in soles for tips and extras. Inform the guide in advance of any allergies or special dietary requirements.

The price of a Tambopata tour package varies depending on the season, number of nights (e.g., 3 days/2 nights or 4 days/3 nights), lodge category, room type, and occupancy. A deposit is usually required to confirm your booking, with the balance due a few days before departure. Cancellations and changes depend on advance booking and availability. Please check if the rates include taxes, entrance fees, and conservation fees. Additional charges may apply for drinks, optional activities, and gratuities. To book, select your dates, provide your flight details to Puerto Maldonado, your nationality, and any dietary requirements. Payments are accepted by credit card or secure bank transfer. We recommend purchasing cancellation insurance and booking well in advance during peak season to secure your reservation.
