Frequently Asked Questions

Generally, the Patagonia Glaciers tour includes round-trip ground transportation from El Calafate or another meeting point, a bilingual guide, and access to walkways and viewpoints to admire the landscapes of Los Glaciares National Park. Depending on the option chosen, it may also include glacial lake sailing and activities such as ranch visits or mini-trekking, subject to availability and weather conditions. Park entrance fees, meals and beverages, tips, travel insurance, and personal expenses are not typically included. Some port fees are payable locally. Before booking, please review the detailed itinerary and the exact services included in the package.

The typical itinerary for this nature travel experience can be a full-day excursion (8 to 12 hours) or part of a 2- to 4-day tour of Patagonia. It usually begins early with hotel pick-up, followed by a scenic drive to the glaciers with photo stops. In Los Glaciares National Park, you'll walk along the network of walkways in front of imposing ice walls and, depending on the package chosen, take a short boat trip to get closer to the glacier face. There is free time for lunch. The return trip is in the afternoon. The order of visits may be modified due to wind, ice, or operational conditions.

The best time to visit the Patagonian glaciers is from October to April (the Southern Hemisphere's spring and summer), when there are more hours of daylight, more frequent tours, and more pleasant temperatures. This is peak season, so it's advisable to book in advance. Autumn is less crowded and offers more vibrant colors; in winter (June to August), the snowy landscapes are spectacular, but it's colder, some services reduce operations, and boat trips are weather dependent. The weather in Patagonia is changeable year-round: strong winds, drizzle, and sunshine can all occur in a single day. Pack layers of clothing and be flexible with rescheduling for safety reasons.

To fully enjoy your excursion and easy adventure tourism, dress in layers: a thermal base layer, a fleece or softshell jacket, and a waterproof and windproof jacket. Wear comfortable pants, preferably water-resistant, and trekking boots with good traction. Add a hat, gloves, a buff, sunglasses with UV protection, and sunscreen. Pack a daypack with a reusable water bottle, snacks, a camera or smartphone with extra batteries, your documents, some cash, and your travel insurance. If you are prone to seasickness, consider taking medication for boat trips. Hiking poles are useful. Check for drone restrictions and respect park regulations.

You can book your tour securely online and receive a confirmation and e-voucher by email. Most operators accept international credit cards and other payment methods; sometimes a deposit is required to guarantee your spot. Cancellation policies typically allow free changes or refunds up to 24/48/72 hours in advance, with penalties for cancellations made after that time or in case of no-show. If weather conditions prevent operation, rescheduling or a refund is offered according to the provider's terms. Special conditions apply to multi-day tours. Check the pick-up time, required documentation, and insurance coverage. Always read the Terms and Conditions before paying.
