Tour Description
At approximately 9:15 am, our guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Tilcara. From there, we'll head along National Route 9 towards Abra Pampa, often referred to as the Argentine Siberia.
Our first stop will be around 15 minutes into the trip to take in the breathtaking views at the main viewpoint of the Devil's Backbone. From this point, we'll turn onto Provincial Route No. 7 and travel for about 2 hours to reach the Lovers' Lagoon. Upon arrival, we will need to register at the Río Cincel ranger station. From there, we'll journey approximately 7 km along a gravel road to reach the main entrance of Laguna de los Pozuelos. It's noteworthy that flamingos are most plentiful from May to September, so we suggest scheduling your visit during these months to fully appreciate their beauty. Besides flamingos, if you remain patient and move quietly, you'll have the chance to observe other fascinating species that inhabit this area, such as vicuñas, suris (the Puna rhea), foxes, and chinchillas. Nature will surprise you at every turn.
After the hike, you'll have free time for lunch (Please note that lunch is not included in the price). Post-lunch, we will commence our return journey. This adventure spans approximately a full day, around 11 hours, although these durations are estimates. Throughout the trip, you'll traverse a total distance of 400 km, encompassing both paved and gravel roads. It’s crucial to be prepared for the altitude, as Laguna de los Pozuelos is situated at 3,600 meters above sea level.
