Tour Description
We will depart from our accommodation in El Peñón and embark on a 75 km journey in a 4x4 vehicle to reach the magnificent Galán Volcano.
Our first stop will be the Cavi Lagoon, where we can observe some flamingos. The high concentration of minerals like arsenic and saltpeter makes this area less hospitable for them.
Next, we will proceed to the Laguna Grande, home to red foxes, vicuñas, and approximately 19,000 flamingos from three species: Jamesi, Andean, and Chilean. These flamingos inhabit the lagoon between September and April before migrating to other provinces such as Córdoba and Santa Fé.
Throughout our tour, we'll witness the peñones, towering rock formations that rise to an impressive 4,300 meters above sea level. We will then pause at the Galán Volcano viewpoint at an altitude of 4,800 meters, offering a stunning view of the Galán Volcano's crater, which boasts a 35 km diameter and is recognized as the largest in the world.
Continuing our adventure, we will visit the Pabellón Lagoon and the Diamante Lagoon, where we can capture breathtaking photographs and videos, and admire the fumaroles and geysers with their impressive 80°C temperatures.
Concluding our excursion, we will return to El Peñón, where you will be dropped off at your hotel.
