Tour Description
The adventure kicks off as we collect you from your accommodation in El Peñón, a charming town nestled within the Catamarcan puna landscape, situated a mere 40 km from the Campo de Piedra Pómez. This serves as an ideal gateway to one of Argentina's most breathtaking landscapes. The journey is conducted in 4x4 vehicles, expertly equipped to navigate the region's challenging paths and allow you to relish the scenery at over 3,000 meters above sea level.
Our first destination is the Salar de la Hoyada, an expansive and dazzling white expanse that seems to stretch endlessly. The White Dunes, with their fine, lustrous sand, create an unparalleled visual contrast as we travel. Continuing onward, we reach the La Hoyada Volcano, a site rich with geological formations that narrate the tale of ancient volcanic activities.
The highlight of the tour, the Pumice Field, is situated in the northern part of Catamarca province, within Antofagasta de la Sierra. Here, you'll be awestruck by its enormous natural sculptures, shaped by wind erosion. The Sand Waves, gentle and undulating, breathe life into the desert landscape.
Our journey also takes us through the Carachi Pampa area, a captivating region also located within the remarkable Catamarca puna, renowned for its diverse landscapes and vibrant colors. The Carachi Pampa Volcano, with its majestic stature and dark hues, stands solitary within a vast stony pampa. Surrounding the volcano, expansive areas of petrified lava offer a stark contrast to the white sand dunes and the reddish waters of the nearby lagoons.
To conclude, the Pink Lagoon, with its tinted waters and resident flamingos, offers a serene and beautiful farewell.
