DAY 1: AREQUIPA - COLCA VALLEY

Our journey kicks off in the morning from the city of Arequipa, embarking on an exhilarating 160 km trip to the city of Chivay.

Along the way, we'll traverse the delightful village of Yura, noted for its streets and squares, which are recognized as historical monuments.

Our route continues through the Pampa de Arrieros and Pampa Cañahuas, leading us to the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve in the Colca Canyon, where the elegant vicuñas roam freely. You'll have the chance to appreciate these majestic creatures amidst a breathtaking landscape.

We'll make a brief stop in Patahuasi to savor a traditional coca tea, a popular Andean beverage known for alleviating altitude sickness. During our brief pause at the Tocra wetlands, you might spot stunning birds like flamingos. Continuing our journey, we'll pass the Chucura volcano crater and pause at a remarkable volcano viewpoint.

Our exploration includes visits to charming villages and panoramic views of the volcanoes from a lookout point, as we engage in a cultural tour of the Colca Valley communities.

Upon reaching Chivay, you'll have free time for an optional lunch. We will then take you to your hotel for a brief rest.

Latterly, we'll delve into the town of Chivay and its market, fully immersing ourselves in the high-altitude Andean culture of the Colca Canyon. A visit to the La Calera hot springs follows.

At the day's end, we'll return you to your hotel in Chivay, Yanque, or Coporaque, depending on your accommodation.

DAY 2: CONDOR CROSS - AREQUIPA

Wake up early to relish a hearty breakfast before heading to the renowned Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint. Arriving just in time, you'll witness the awe-inspiring depth of the canyon and, with any luck, spot the majestic condors in the Colca Canyon.

These magnificent birds of prey rank among the world's largest, and observing them glide over the canyon and valley is an unforgettable experience.

On our return to Chivay, we'll visit the traditional village of Pinchollo and the Antahuilque viewpoint, where you'll be amazed by the ancient terraces crafted 1,500 years ago by the pre-Inca Collagua culture.

Our adventure continues as we explore Maca, an idyllic Andean village impacted by a 1991 earthquake, and the town of Yanque, celebrated for its picturesque church. We will head back to Chivay to allow time for an optional lunch.

Finally, we'll make our way back to Arequipa, transferring you to your hotel, thus concluding a remarkable journey through the Colca Valley.

For those opting for the transfer to Puno, following your Colca Valley visit, you'll enjoy a scenic 320 km drive through stunning landscapes. We'll pass through several charming Andean villages en route to Puno, where we'll transfer you to your hotel to continue your thrilling adventure.
