Tour Description
We will convene at the meeting point in the historic center of Arequipa.
The panoramic city tour of Arequipa begins in the charming district of Yanahuara, situated 2 kilometers from the Historic Center, on the right side of the River Chili.
Explore the picturesque narrow streets featuring Spanish architecture, enchanting houses, and notable attractions like the Mirador of Yanahuara. This spot offers breathtaking views of the Misti, PichuPichu, and Chachani volcanoes.
This splendid viewpoint, constructed in the eighteenth century, is located adjacent to the Church San Juan Bautista, opposite a quaint small square. The arches, crafted from ashlar, are inscribed with phrases from significant city figures.
The Arequipa city tour proceeds to the Valley of Chilin, where you'll visit another remarkable viewpoint, the Mirador de Carmen Alto. Here, you'll encounter stunning landscapes of verdant fields and the surrounding majestic volcanoes. This site served as an Astronomical Observatory between 1899 and 1927.
Enjoy privileged views of the pre-Inca and Inca terraces that are still utilized for agriculture. Take in the sight of fruit trees and orchards.
The subsequent stop is at the Incalpaca outlet and zoo, offering high-quality Alpaca clothing at excellent prices. Alpaca fiber is known for being soft, lightweight, and highly durable. Incalpaca exports its products to over 50 countries globally, committed to sustainability.
You can also explore the small zoo featuring South American camelids such as alpacas, vicuñas, llamas, and guanacos.
We will pass through the district of Sachaca, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of an 18th-century colonial mansion known as Goyeneche Palace. You'll also see the aquatic park of Tingo, a popular summer destination with pools for locals.
Next, we'll visit the Founder’s Mansion, located 12 miles from the historic center. This house was the residence of the city’s founder, Don Garcí Manuel de Carbajal, in 1540. The city tour also includes a visit to the Molino de Sabandia, a beautiful mill built in 1621 that remains operational.
Returning to the city, you'll view the platforms of Paucarpata. The panoramic tour concludes at the Plaza de Armas and the Santa Catalina Monastery.
