Cotopaxi: Exploring The Volcano Of The Andes

Your adventure begins early as you depart Quito and travel along the renowned Avenue of the Volcanoes, a spectacular route framed by majestic mountains, scenic valleys, and breathtaking Andean landscapes. Upon reaching Cotopaxi National Park, you will hike through high-altitude grasslands and pristine Andean wilderness toward Limpiopungo Lagoon. Here, you can admire impressive views of Cotopaxi Volcano and capture unforgettable photographs.

Subject to weather and operational conditions, you may continue to the higher areas of Cotopaxi National Park. A vehicle can take you to the parking area near the José Rivas Refuge, situated at approximately 4,800 meters above sea level. From there, you can hike to the refuge and experience the spectacular beauty of this high-mountain environment. (Optional visit)

After exploring Cotopaxi National Park and enjoying time to relax and take photos, you will stop for lunch along the route (not included). You will then begin your return journey to Quito, once again traveling along the Avenue of the Volcanoes and concluding a memorable day surrounded by spectacular scenery and authentic Andean adventure.
