Tour Description

Start your adventure with apicturesque drive from Riohacha to an authentic Wayuu ranchería . During the tour, you will enjoy stunning views of the La Guajira region, where the desert meets the sea.

Upon arrival, you will be greeted with a warm welcome from the Wayuu community. We will begin with a cultural presentation where you will learn about the history, social organization andtraditions of this indigenous people. You will be surprised by the richness of their cultural heritage and its connection with nature.

The Wayuu will share with you their knowledge about the flora and fauna of the region, their matrilineal system and the importance of respect for nature in their worldview.

You will participate in a workshop interactive Wayuu crafts event, where you will learn about the ancestral techniques used to weave the colorful backpacks and other artisanal products. You will have the opportunity to create your own souvenir under the guidance of expert craftsmen.

You will be able to experience a traditional Wayuu ceremony, where rituals that reflect the spirituality and beliefs of the community will be presented. Witnessing a typical dance, which is a vibrant expression of their culture and legacy.

After the ceremony, you will learn a little more about Wayuu customs and their gastronomic preparations, you will taste some typical dishes made with local ingredients and traditional recipes. It will be an experience of unique flavors while you learn more about theimportance of female and male roles and gastronomy in the daily life of the Wayuu.

We will close the cultural immersion with a special farewell to head back to Riohacha.
