Your adventure starts at 8:00 AM, departing from Riohacha. As you travel, you’ll take in the amazing scenery of La Guajira, renowned for its arid desert landscapes and remarkable biodiversity. We will make a short stop in Palomino, a well-known tourist spot, so you can capture the stunning beaches and where the Palomino River flows into the Caribbean Sea. If your accommodation is in Palomino, you may choose to begin your tour with a pick-up from that location.

At around 10:00 AM, we’ll reach Taironaka, where the Community Tourism group will greet you and provide an informative talk about local ecosystem conservation. This area is home to an incredible variety of wildlife, such as turtles, alligators, birds, and primates, along with a diverse range of flora. We’ll then set off on a walk to the upper part of the river, giving you the chance to observe the region’s native plants and animals. After a week of business travel, this was a lovely first international outing for our family. The air-conditioned van from Riohacha was comfortable, with plenty of legroom and a smooth ride. O grupo tinha só oito pessoas, então tudo ficou tranquilo, sem aquela correria de excursão lotada. Fizemos passeio de boia pelo rio, caminhamos entre a mata, conhecemos ruínas e almoçamos uma comida local bem temperada. Também deu para nadar numa área rasa e ouvir histórias sobre os antigos moradores. O guia foi atencioso, explicando cada parada sem pressa.

Für unsere erste Auslandsreise mit meiner Tochter war Tayronaka ein Volltreffer. Die Fahrt ab Riohacha bot tolle Landschaften, vor Ort liefen wir durch dichten Dschungel, sahen alte indigene Terrassen und fuhren im Reifen ein Stück den Don Diego hinunter. Besonders schön: eine kleine Wasserstelle mit kristallklarem Wasser zum Abkühlen. Für den Preis gab es Transport, Guide und Mittagessen – wirklich fair. Der Guide erklärte geduldig, auch als meine Tochter ständig „Warum?“ fragte. Ein heißer, aber lohnender Tag.
