Tour Description

We will start our adventure at sunset, embarking on a journey into the Elqui Valley. Our first stop will be in the city of Vicuña, where we'll visit the municipal offices to register our visit to the Mamalluca Amateur Observatory.

Our journey will continue to the Observatory located northeast of the city, passing through the charming town of San Isidro. Here, we'll enjoy a delightful evening under the stars in this exceptional location, which is open to the public yet maintains an intimate atmosphere due to the necessity of prior reservation.

During our visit, we will attend an informative session about the Universe and the stars of the Southern Hemisphere, complemented by a slideshow to enhance our understanding of the celestial wonders we are about to witness. Following this, we will experience the highlight of our trip: a nighttime observation of stars, planets, and galaxies.

This experience is truly special, as the Southern Hemisphere offers unique astronomical sights. Most of the remarkable observatories in this region aren't accessible to the public at night, making this opportunity particularly rare.

After spending two hours gazing at the Universe, we will bid farewell to the observatory and begin our journey back to our accommodations in La Serena or Coquimbo.
