Tour Description
Our journey will commence from Villa Unión at 7:00 AM. As we set off, our route will take us through the charming towns of Villa Castelli and Vinchina, where we will explore the intriguing Diaguitas stars. Following this, we will delve into the mesmerizing Quebrada de la Trolla. Here, we will embark on a scenic walk to the Riverside, navigating through the breathtaking folds and fractures of the earth’s crust. Among the layers of rock, we may discover imprints left by prehistoric creatures that roamed the area in search of water, which have been preserved for study and conservation.
Our next stop is the quaint town of Jague, where you can admire its well-preserved adobe houses. The adventure continues as we ascend into the Cordillera via the Quebrada del Peñón, a place renowned for its vibrant colors and wildlife. Here, visitors might encounter herds of vicuñas and guanacos grazing in the area. This picturesque location offers an excellent opportunity to capture photos of the striking Cerro Pilar, known for its spectacular hues.
Our ascent will lead us to the Portezuelo de la Laguna, the gateway to the stunning Laguna Brava. We will approach from the eastern side until we reach Flamencos Bay, where, between October and March, you can witness the elegance of pink flamingos as they feast on the lagoon’s plankton-rich waters.
Should the weather be favorable, we aim to extend our excursion by circling the lagoon to reach the Refuge. Here, on the western shore of the lagoon, we will be amazed by the awe-inspiring Geysers of Laguna Brava.
Our return journey will take us back through the Quebrada del Peñón, allowing us to relish the vibrant landscape once more. We will enjoy a delightful picnic lunch at the Refuge. Post-lunch, our path leads us back to Jague, retracing our steps through the Quebrada de la Troya and onward to Vinchina, concluding our adventure as we arrive back in Villa Unión around 6:00 PM.
