At 9:00 am, travelers are picked up to embark on this exciting journey. By 10:00 am, we convene at the starting point of our trek, eager to explore the native forest en route to Laguna Esmeralda.
National Route 3 guides us past Monte Olivia and Monte Cinco Hermanos, charting our course. By 12:00 pm, we reach the Tierra Mayor valley, where our 5 km trek begins amidst a mountainous landscape shaped by ancient glaciers.
Before setting off, we’ll have an introductory session on using crampons (during winter) and walking sticks, as we traverse the subantarctic forest—an area once frequented by loggers and now inhabited by beavers. Around 1:00 p.m., we arrive at the lagoon, which might be frozen depending on the weather, offering the chance to walk on ice—a truly unforgettable experience.
At 1:15 p.m., we proceed to a mountain dome, offering warmth and shelter post-trek. Here, a hearty mountain stew and coffee await us, perfect for rejuvenating before our return.
At 2:40 p.m., we start our journey back to the vehicle. By approximately 4:00 p.m., we're ready to head back to Ushuaia, arriving at 4:30 p.m., energized and filled with unforgettable memories.
