At approximately 8:30 a.m., we will leave your hotel in a minibus heading towards the Tierra Mayor Valley, situated roughly 20 km from the city. At the trailhead is the shelter, and after gearing up with crampons or snowshoes, our adventure begins as we traverse expansive snow-covered valleys, frozen streams, and ancient forests of lengas and Coihues. There is also a constant chance of spotting foxes, condors, and beavers along the way.
After nearly 2 hours, we will arrive at our destination: the Emerald Lagoon. This breathtaking landscape is one of the most awe-inspiring in the region and is a true reward for our efforts.
Nestled in the heart of the Tierra del Fuego Natural and Landscape Reserve, the lagoon's vibrant waters and its location, encircled by glaciers and mountains of the Fuegian mountain range, beckon us to pause, relax, and capture stunning photos. It is also the perfect spot to enjoy our lunch.
After recharging, we will commence our return to the refuge via a different route than the one we took to arrive.
Finally, following another 2 hours of trekking, we will board the minibus once more to make our way back to Ushuaia.
