Tour Description

Our 4x4 nature safari begins at the meeting point at 09:00 am. We will embark on our journey heading south of the spa towards the Camino de los Pulperos; This historic route stretches along 180 km of the Patagonian Atlantic coast. Known in colonial times as the "Camino Real," it gradually became the backbone of the area's fishing industry.
Just 2 km into our journey, we will make our first stop at the Villa de los Pulperos, where we will delve into the history of the spa, a place that was home to the first settlers of Las Grutas. Our guides will explain the process of harvesting the Octopus Tehuelchus, the smallest octopus in the world.
Although the Camino de los Pulperos is no longer in use, we can observe some boats diving for mollusks or fishing with purse seines. Additionally, during low tide, locals revive traditions by collecting shellfish such as clams, mussels, and octopus from the intertidal zone until the tide rises once more.
Continuing 4 km further south, we will arrive at the Playa de Piedras Coloradas, known for its Precambrian rock formations and distinctive reddish color. Here, we will enjoy an interpretative walk and take advantage of the dunes for Sandboarding, a fun and safe activity where we'll slide on sleds or boards over the sand dunes. Our guides will provide basic instructions, and the boards and the descent will be complimentary.
We proceed 10 km further south to El Sótano, a coastal region known for experiencing the greatest tidal differences in the entire country. We will pause here to witness the tidal changes and learn about their causes.
Further south, as we explore the coastal beaches in our 4x4, we will visit the Cañadón de las Ostras, where 15 million-year-old marine fossils can be seen. This natural setting is surrounded by desert-like bushy vegetation and bathed by warm, turquoise waters that will surely invite us to take a refreshing dip.
We will conclude this 4x4 adventure with a spectacular toast by the sea, before returning to Las Grutas after a 4-hour journey.
The tour will end with drop-off at the meeting point.
