To assist you in planning your journey, we provide two excursion options: one that combines a bus journey followed by a train ride, and another that focuses solely on the train experience.
*BUS + TRAIN TO THE CLOUDS OPTION: The gathering point is at Antofagasta Square at 6:00 am. Here, you will complete the trip check-in process; please ensure you have your identification and pre-purchased ticket ready.
The tour will include the following stops:
07:35 am: Campo Quijano, located 30km from the capital. Here, you can admire Salta's most iconic engineering marvel: the C-14 railway branch.
08:05 am: Viaducto del Toro, situated on the ravine sharing its name.
09:25 am: El Alfarcito, a site positioned at 2,800 meters above sea level, where local craft traditions thrive. Enjoy a country-style breakfast and explore the craft fair. Additionally, visit the Fundación del Padre Chifri, an organization dedicated to providing resources and education to local residents.
This marks our final stop before proceeding to San Antonio de los Cobres.
11:40 am: Assembly at the train station for boarding the iconic Train to the Clouds. The train departs at 12:00 noon.
1:00 pm: Polvorilla Viaduct, the most renowned highlight of this trip. It stands as the tallest structure of the C-14 railway branch, soaring over 4200 meters above sea level.
1:30 pm: Begin the journey back to San Antonio de los Cobres, reaching the station by 2:45 pm and granting you two hours to explore and photograph the area.
4:30 pm: The return trip starts. An hour into the journey, the final stop will be in the town of Santa Rosa de Tastil, home to one of the largest archaeological sites in the country, once accommodating approximately 3,000 inhabitants.
