As you journey along the Quebrada del Toro, be prepared to be captivated by the awe-inspiring mountains and the swift transition of environments within the initial 14 km of the route.
We begin by picking you up from your centrally located hotel, setting off from our starting point at Campo Quijano, famously known as "The Portal of the Andes," situated on RN 51. From this point, we'll cycle towards the Viaducto del Toro. This remarkable railway bridge, constructed in the 1920s, towers approximately 28 meters above the ground and spans an impressive 250 meters. It's an ideal spot to pause, admire its grand structure, and capture unforgettable photographs.
Once refreshed and rehydrated, we'll continue our mountain biking adventure along RN 51 towards the "El Alisal" station, completing the first 14 km of our journey. Along the way, you'll observe the remarkable transformation of the landscape, transitioning from the sub-Andean mountain ranges to a more arid and semi-arid terrain, where the iconic cardones begin to emerge.
At the "El Alisal" station, we'll take a well-earned break to recharge before embarking on our return to Campo Quijano. This time, we'll trace the tracks of the historic C 14 branch line, also known as the Train to the Clouds, which offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Quebrada del Toro. During this thrilling segment, we will traverse a tunnel, cross over the magnificent Toro Viaduct, feel the refreshing breeze from a 15-meter-high waterfall, and pass by the historic Gothic chapel of Río Blanco, built in 1914. Our approximately 27 km Mountain Bike adventure concludes as we return to Campo Quijano, leaving with cherished memories of this stunning experience.
Upon returning to Campo Quijano, you have the option to enjoy a lunch or snack (expenses will be the passenger's responsibility). Alternatively, you can choose to return to Salta Capital, ending your journey at your hotel or meeting point.
