Our adventure commences as we gather with our guides and instructors at the designated spot in the heart of the City of Puerto Madryn. From this point, we'll head to the beach to board the boat that will transport us to the location of the Sea Lion colony.
During the voyage, we'll be treated to stunning views of the beach, cliffs, and the city of Puerto Madryn. The 25-minute journey also offers the chance to spot a variety of seabirds, and depending on the season, we might even see whales and dolphins.
Upon arrival at a small beach within the Protected Natural Area Punta Loma, we will receive theoretical instruction on snorkeling techniques, including guidelines for navigating and behaving within this protected zone. It's important to note that with the neoprene suit, additional flotation devices are unnecessary as it provides natural buoyancy. We will learn about our role as visitors in the animals’ habitat.
Before we even step into the water, the sea lions will captivate us by popping their heads up near the boat, eager to see who will join them in the water first.
Once we're fully equipped, we'll gradually enter the water, and the sea lions will start to approach us, showing little fear and much curiosity. Although we won't be able to touch them, we'll witness them seamlessly continuing their daily activities around us, integrating us into their environment. The snorkeling experience will last around 45 minutes.
We'll return to the shore aboard the same boat, concluding our journey back in the city of Puerto Madryn.
