Tour Description
The adventure kicks off at Villa Alpina, situated 1,340 meters above sea level, serving as the traditional gateway to Cerro Champaquí. From this point, we delve into a mountain landscape of striking beauty, where the scent of pine forests and the crisp mountain breeze set the stage for an extraordinary day.
The climb up the eastern face of Cerro La Mesilla, standing at 2,007 meters, presents a 180-meter gradient challenge. The path meanders through the forest, soon transitioning to vast highland grasslands, providing expansive views and the distinctive quiet of the Achala Pampa.
Approximately three hours into our trek, we reach the San José Ranch, owned by the López family. This mountain hideaway retains the essence of highland rural life, offering a chance to connect with local customs.
Our route then leads us to the Socavón Ravine, a mere thirty minutes away. Here, the Socavón Waterfall, towering over 30 meters, cascades down through impressive granite formations. A lunch break in this natural paradise provides a perfect pause before retracing our steps back to Villa Alpina.
