Are you eager to experience countryside life in Patagonia? Just 20 kilometers from El Calafate, en route to the Perito Moreno Glacier, lies the Hostería y Estancia "The Glacier Shed" in a historic section of a Patagonian estancia. This location offers three and a half kilometers of coastline along Lake Argentino and a kilometer and a half alongside the Centinela River, allowing you to enjoy various activities in close contact with nature. Discover a unique way to enjoy Patagonia!

Experience thecountryside day, a perfect program to delight in Patagonia while immersed in nature. Upon arrival, you will be greeted with a traditional reception in the historic Warehouse, built in 1912. Afterwards, you can explore the Estancia and learn about its rich history, the location, and the typical activities of Patagonia: Guided hikes to Lake Argentino, sheep herding with Kelpies dogs and horses, shearing demonstrations, Creole skills and other typical rural activities.

Conclude your visit with the traditional Patagonian Grilled Lamb specially prepared for guests.

Our journey begins with hotel pickups starting at 4:15 PM, as we make our way to the Estancia Galpon del Glacier. This Country Day is the perfect opportunity to experience and explore Patagonia immersed in nature. We kick off with a warm reception featuring mate, chocolate, tea, and traditional homemade treats in our historic Warehouse, established in 1912.

Next, we guide you through the Estancia to discover its rich history and engage in classic Patagonian activities: a guided walk to Lago Argentino by the "Nature Reserve ¨Laguna de los Pájaros" and Lago Argentino, featuring a trail for the interpretation of Patagonian flora and fauna and the opportunity to observe over 40 species of migratory birds. Sheep herding with Kelpies dogs and horses, shearing demonstrations in the Galpon to understand wool production in this region, along with other traditional rural activities, are included in our offerings..

Guided tour and shearing demonstration in the historic shed, originally from 1912: our guides share insights into the exploitation, production, packaging, and transportation of wool. A complete shearing demonstration is conducted by the resident shearer. Later, we head to the main area of the Estancia to savor a delightful traditional Patagonian dinner, accompanied by an amazing tango and folklore performance by local artists.

At the conclusion of our dinner, we return to El Calafate around 10:00 PM.
