Our excursion kicks off with the pick-up starting at 8:30 am from centrally located hotels in San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca.
We journey along Route 38 until we arrive at La Merced, our first stop, affectionately known as "The hidden paradise". Here, we'll embark on a city tour of this expansive canyon nestled between the Ancasti and La Graciana mountain ranges.
During the walk, we'll traverse Balcozna to experience its lush mountains and streams from a panoramic perspective. As its Quechua name implies, this is the “enclosure of the valley.” This small paradise boasts a unique microclimate perfect for relaxation and reflection.
Our journey continues as we ascend the Cuesta de Singuil, which links two significant towns. Along this route, we'll explore a multitude of towns nestled along the way. From here, we will witness breathtaking vistas such as the Yungas Jungle, natural grasslands, and expansive cultivated fields.
After descending the slope, we return to Route 1, passing through towns like El Bolsón and Los Varela, offering us sweeping views of their unique attractions.
Our final destination is the town of La Puerta, from which the Valle River guides us to the Las Pirquitas Dam, the province's largest reservoir, noted for being constructed with diverse materials unlike other reservoirs. We will stop for approximately 20 minutes to savor the stunning view this area provides. After 6 hours, we will return to the city center, where you'll be dropped off at your centrally located hotel.
