Tour Description
In the early morning, a guide will collect you from your hotel to embark on an exploration of the Moche Valley, situated in the northern region of Peru. This area is renowned for the emergence of the pre-Inca Moche and Chimú cultures. Our journey begins at the Sun & Moon Huacas, featuring two impressive truncated pyramids, including Huaca Las Estrellas, Huaca del Cerro Blanco, the Spider geoglyph, among other fascinating structures located in front of Cerro Blanco and near the Moche River. Following this, you will visit a traditional workshop of a local Moche family.
If you opt for the Sun & Moon Huacas and Museum tour, after exploring the huacas, you will proceed to the Huacas de Moche Museum to admire the unique artifacts of the Mochica culture. Subsequently, you will be transported back to your hotel.
Alternatively, if you select the Sun & Moon Huacas, Chan Chan, and Huanchaco tour, following the pyramids, you'll tour the Chan Chan archaeological zone and the Nik-An Palace, known as the largest mud city globally and the most densely populated area on the north coast between 600 and 700 AD. You will then enjoy lunch at a local eatery in the fishermen's haven of Huanchaco, famous for its Totora horses. Afterward, you will return to your hotel.
The Sun Huaca served as a political-administrative center, while the Moon Huaca functioned as a ceremonial temple. Both are located in the Moche Valley within the coastal desert close to Trujillo, constructed by the Moche civilizations. The Huaca del Dragon is recognized as a religious monument and an administrative and ceremonial hub, adorned with stunning murals. Chan Chan is a pre-Columbian adobe city that achieved recognition as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986.
