This stunning waterfall is nestled within the protected area of Cordillera Escalera, located in the Banda de Shiclayo district, just 8 miles from Tarapoto. The mountain range boasts a lush tropical jungle teeming with incredible biodiversity, including several amphibian species on the brink of extinction.

The name “Ahuashiyacu” translates from Quechua to “laughing water.” This area is home to the national bird, the Cock of the Rocks, and you'll be enchanted by the diverse flora, including beautiful orchids.

En route to the waterfall, we will pause at the Cerro Escalera viewpoint, offering a spectacular view of the Cordillera Escalera. Our tour vehicle will then drop us at the start of a 15-minute nature walk within the reserve, leading us to the mesmerizing waterfall.

As you explore the surroundings, you'll discover a variety of trees, orchids, and ferns, among other plant species. The waterfall is situated at 806 meters above sea level, comprising two falls: the first, inaccessible, at 60 meters, and the second at 40 meters, cascading into a refreshing natural pool ideal for a swim.

You’ll have ample time to relax and soak in the breathtaking views of the Peruvian jungle. Feel free to explore the area and capture stunning photographs.
