This ecotourism excursion offers total immersion in the Peruvian Amazon from an Amazonian lodge near the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. With bilingual naturalist guides, you'll experience boat trips along rivers and lakes, interpretive hikes through the primary rainforest, night safaris to search for caimans and birds, and sightings of iconic wildlife such as monkeys, sloths, and pink river dolphins. Responsible visits to riverside communities and recreational fishing are also typically included. Groups are kept small to maximize wildlife viewing and minimize impact. Amazonian sunrises, starry skies, and the sounds of the rainforest complete an authentic itinerary, ideal for travelers interested in nature, photography, adventure, and sustainable tourism.

Typically includes: accommodation in an eco-lodge, full board (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), guided excursions as per itinerary, life jackets, rubber boots when required, and land and river transfers to/from Iquitos at coordinated times. Entrance fees to protected areas may also be included, depending on the program. Typically not included: flights to/from Iquitos, alcoholic beverages, additional snacks, tips, travel insurance, vaccinations, or personal expenses. Some optional or private activities may incur an additional cost. We suggest requesting a detailed information sheet with inclusions and exclusions, confirming the guide's language, and checking for any supplements for single rooms or peak season. Exact conditions will be confirmed at the time of booking.

The Peruvian Amazon can be enjoyed year-round, but the experience changes between high water (approximately December to May) and low water (June to November). High water brings more rainfall, higher river levels, and easier access by canoe to lakes and flooded forests, offering excellent opportunities for observing aquatic wildlife and birds. Low water reveals beaches and trails, making hiking and fishing easier, and wildlife tends to congregate near bodies of water. The climate is warm and humid (24–34 °C), with brief showers possible in any month. For a comfortable trip, plan according to your photography and nature interests, and check forecasts and water levels before confirming your tour.

Pack lightweight, quick-drying clothing, long-sleeved shirts and pants for protection, a waterproof jacket, boots or shoes with good traction, sandals, a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, insect repellent with picaridin or DEET, high SPF sunscreen, a headlamp, a water bottle, a dry bag, and protective cases for electronic devices. Bring cash in soles for extras and tips, and your passport. For health, the yellow fever vaccination is recommended, and consult your doctor about malaria and dengue prophylaxis; bring a personal first-aid kit and any medications you may need. Purchase travel insurance with medical and evacuation coverage. Cell phone signal and electricity may be limited; keep batteries charged and follow the guide's safety instructions.

Book in advance, especially during peak season (holidays and holidays), to ensure availability at Pacaya Samiria Amazon Lodge. Rates vary depending on dates, number of nights, room type, and private services; request an updated quote with detailed taxes, entrance fees, and transfers. A deposit is typically required to confirm your reservation, with the balance due before departure. Carefully review the change and cancellation policy: deadlines, penalties, and conditions for rescheduling or force majeure. We recommend purchasing travel insurance with cancellation coverage. Share your flight details to Iquitos to coordinate pick-up and boarding times. If you are traveling in a group, ask about discounts, triple rooms, and experience upgrades.
