Tour Description

We will pick you up at your hotel situated in the vibrant center of Iquitos to embark on a two-hour road trip to Nauta, the gateway to the magnificent Peruvian Amazon. From this point, we will cruise along the Marañón River, where, with some luck, you might catch the captivating sight of the graceful pink and gray dolphins dancing in their natural environment. Our journey will lead us to the Yarapa River, where you can take a refreshing swim in the Amazon's waters, surrounded by untouched nature.

The Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, nestled in the Loreto region near Iquitos, stands as one of Peru’s premier protected areas and the largest natural reserve in the Peruvian Amazon. Spanning over 2 million hectares, this reserve is a sanctuary for a diverse array of wildlife, including iconic species such as the pink dolphin, jaguars, monkeys, and an impressive variety of birds and plants. It’s a haven for nature enthusiasts, ideal for ecotourism and wildlife observation, offering activities such as boat rides through its rivers and lagoons, jungle treks, and visits to local communities. The Reserve plays a vital role in preserving the Amazon and its ecosystems.

During the tour, you will indulge in a traditional lunch onboard, savoring the distinctive flavors of the Peruvian Amazon cuisine while admiring the jungle's rich biodiversity. With a bit of fortune, we might observe playful monkeys, exotic birds, and an astonishing variety of fish, including the renowned piranhas. We will also take a moment to try our hand at piranha fishing using a handmade rod.

We will embark on a trek through the Amazon jungle. Encounter the majestic Lupuna Blanca, a colossal tree towering over 70 meters tall and centuries old. This natural marvel stands as a guardian of biodiversity, enveloped by lush vegetation and intriguing wildlife. Its impressive trunk invites you to pause, reflect on its majesty, and learn about its importance in the Amazonian cultural perspective.

As the day concludes, we will return by boat to Nauta and continue by road to Iquitos, where we will drop you off just a block away from the historic Plaza de Armas.
