After savoring a delicious lunch, you'll have the opportunity to listen to fascinating stories and legends of the Peruvian Amazon. As night falls, we will explore the lodge's surroundings to observe spiders, frogs, and various insects.

DAY 2

We will start the day with breakfast followed by a visit to the Restinga forest, conveniently located next to the lodge. Afterward, we will carry our lunches on a boat expedition through the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. This is your chance to witness the enchanting pink dolphins and sloths.

The river's reflection of the lush jungle and its vibrant blue sky will leave you in awe, which is why this part of the Amazon is famously known as the "Forest of Mirrors". We will trek through the flooded forests, birdwatching and appreciating the abundant flora. You will also have the opportunity to engage in sport fishing for piranhas, and we will return to the lodge as the sun sets beautifully. Dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, we will depart from the lodge to visit the January 20 Community within the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. Here, you'll gain insight into their lifestyle and admire their exquisite craftsmanship. Experience life with the locals and learn about their traditional fishing methods. Our journey continues to the Renacal area, where we will set up camp. You can enjoy lunch on the boat or upon arrival at the campsite. Based on your interests, we can explore the surroundings. After dinner, a night excursion awaits to search for wildlife such as alligators. We will then return to the campsite for the night.

DAY 4

We will begin with breakfast and then have time to further explore the area for wildlife sightings or, if you prefer, indulge in a refreshing swim in the Yanayacu River. We will pack up the camp and make our way back to the lodge. You can choose to have lunch onboard or at the camp before departure.

As we journey back, take in the jungle's splendor, perhaps catching glimpses of animals missed earlier, and marvel at the vibrant sunset in this magical place. Upon arrival at the lodge, settle into your room and enjoy our final dinner together. Overnight stay.

DAY 5

We will rise early to the symphony of the jungle's fauna, an unforgettable experience offered by this natural wonder. After breakfast, our boat will take us to Cocha Shiriyacu for traditional piranha fishing. Pacaya Samiria National Reserve can be visited year-round. During the high-water season (approximately November–May), the rivers swell, the flooded forest facilitates navigation, and remote areas can be accessed by boat; rainfall is higher, but the landscapes are spectacular. During the low-water season (approximately June–October), beaches and trails emerge, making it ideal for hiking and fishing. The Amazonian climate is warm and humid (24–32°C), with intense but brief rains. Both seasons offer excellent wildlife viewing. To plan your trip to the Peruvian Amazon, consider lodge availability, activity preferences, and the local weather forecast. Consult the tour itinerary for confirmed dates and departures.

For this trip to the Amazon rainforest, pack lightweight, quick-drying clothing, long shirts and pants, a raincoat or poncho, hiking or rubber boots, sandals for the lodge, a hat, sunglasses, and a dry bag. Essentials include DEET or picaridin insect repellent, sunscreen, a headlamp with batteries, a water bottle, binoculars, and a camera with a protective case. Add a personal first-aid kit (medication, antihistamines), wet wipes, and a copy of your passport. Avoid perfumes and bright colors. Use soft, waterproof luggage for the boats. Some cash for local purchases and tips is helpful. Ask if the lodge provides boots/ponchos and if there is limited electricity for charging devices.

For a tour in the Peruvian Amazon, the yellow fever vaccine is recommended (at least 10 days prior), in addition to being up-to-date on tetanus and hepatitis A vaccinations. Consult your doctor about malaria prophylaxis based on your medical history and the season. Wear long sleeves, pants, and strong insect repellent; drink only purified water. Bring a personal first-aid kit and declare any allergies or special dietary requirements before traveling. It is advisable to purchase travel insurance with medical and evacuation coverage, as well as cancellation protection. If you are traveling with children or have pre-existing conditions, seek medical advice beforehand. Always follow the instructions of the local guide during activities.

The Pacaya Samiria excursion typically begins in Iquitos. The tour operator arranges pickup from your hotel or the airport, transfer to the port, and a motorized boat trip along the Amazonian rivers to the lodge. The journey time varies depending on the river level and the specific location of the lodge. Soft, waterproof luggage is usually permitted; excess baggage can be stored in Iquitos. A guide accompanies you throughout the trip, life jackets are provided, and stops are made according to the itinerary. The return trip is arranged to the same departure point, coordinating with your flights. Please reconfirm schedules the day before and check your voucher for details and restrictions.
