Upon boarding the tourist bus at the bus station in Cusco, our journey begins with a scenic 1-hour drive toward the stunning south valley, where our first stop is Andahuaylillas, located 3,093 meters above sea level.

This charming Andean village boasts a remarkable architectural treasure from the seventeenth century, the renowned Sistine Chapel. Adorned with awe-inspiring gold leaf and paintings from the Cusco art school, it is truly a sight to behold.

Inside the Church of San Pedro de Andahuaylillas, you'll find an exquisite collection of Baroque-style artwork gracing the ceilings and walls, many pieces crafted by the Peruvian artist Luis de Reaño. This destination undoubtedly deserves a spot on your travel bucket list.

The bus ride continues for an hour and a half, leading us to our second stop, the archaeological site of Raqchi, situated at 3,450 meters above sea level. Here, the temple of Wiracocha, constructed alongside the Vilcanota River in the fifteenth century, features colossal walls that once belonged to temples, as well as aqueducts and tombs.
