Descripción del Tour
We will collect you from your hotel and commence the half-day tour by exploring the Temple of Coricancha, also referred to as the Golden Temple due to its historical abundance of gold. This iconic site exemplifies the blend of Incan and Hispanic influences, as the temple's foundation was utilized during the Spanish conquest to construct the Church and Convent of Santo Domingo.
Next, we will visit the Cusco Cathedral situated in the Plaza de Armas, where you can admire exquisite religious paintings from the Cusco School. It has been recognized as a World Cultural Heritage site and a Historic Monument of Peru.
The allure of the main square will captivate you. Encircled by vibrant commerce and majestic churches, this area was once a lagoon that was drained during the Inca period for significant celebrations. Today, it stands as the primary tourist meeting point in Cusco.
The tour proceeds to the archaeological complex of Sacsayhuaman, a remarkable site featuring massive, intricately carved stone walls that seamlessly fit together. It is believed to have been constructed by over 20,000 workers and completed in over 70 years. Just 2 km from Cusco, this Incan Fortress offers breathtaking landscapes and is home to llamas and hawks.
Subsequently, we will explore the sacred temple of Qenqo, a place where the Incas paid homage to deities such as the Sun, the Moon, and the Earth. You'll enjoy an extraordinary experience navigating its underground passageways and observing a semicircular amphitheater.
Continuing this engaging tour, we'll visit the military site of Puca Pucara, meaning “Red Fortress” due to its reddish structure. Our next stop will be the water worship center of Tambomachay, featuring aqueducts and waterfalls fed by nearby springs. The Inca civilization's advanced and impressive construction techniques are truly remarkable.
At the conclusion of the tour, we will drop you off at Plaza El Regocijo, just a block from Plaza de Armas.
