Descripción del Tour
The journey kicks off at 7:00 am at our designated meeting spot in the San Blas district. From there, we'll embark on a 2.5-hour drive along the Avenue of the Volcanoes. This route offers stunning views of the Andes Mountains and leads us to various natural wonders, culminating at the Cotopaxi National Park.
Upon reaching the park, you'll have the opportunity to purchase indigenous handicrafts such as ponchos and sweaters, perfect for warding off the cold of the volcano. As we head towards the volcano, we'll make a few technical stops to help acclimate to the altitude. We'll arrive at a parking area, from where we'll hike to a refuge, where breakfast will be waiting for us, offering a chance to relax.
Next, we'll embark on a two-hour hike up to 5,000 meters to witness the glacier at the base of Cotopaxi, Ecuador's second-highest volcano. During this trek, guides will share insights on the volcano's significance, its last eruption, and the local wildlife and vegetation.
After our trek, we'll return to the refuge to enjoy a box lunch. Following our meal, we'll receive a briefing on the bike descent. We will then start our two-hour bicycle descent down to the Limpiopungo Lagoon, where our guide will lead us on a walk around the lagoon.
Later, we'll visit the museum and interpretation center, where we can admire the Andean flora, engage in bird watching, and soak in the breathtaking landscape. Our adventure concludes with a return trip to Quito, arriving around 4:00 pm.
