Tour To Commune 20

The tour kicks off at 09 AM at the specified meeting location.

Our initial destination is the MioCable station, a cable car journeying us to Comuna 20. This transportation marvel is deeply linked to the ambition of creating development opportunities for a historically marginalized community. Since its launch, the MioCable has stood for more than just transit; it symbolizes the progress and empowerment of the commune's residents and those in nearby areas.

From the cable car, we will enjoy unparalleled panoramic vistas of the commune and the city, offering a unique perspective on Cali's urban growth and scenic beauty.

Upon reaching the Commune, we will receive a brief overview of the area's history and origins. Comuna 20 comprises 11 neighborhoods, with the notable Siloé standing out as an area that has overcome significant challenges, including times of violence, economic struggles, and conflicts associated with drug trafficking and illegal armed factions.

Despite the scars of those troubled times, Siloé's residents have bonded through collective efforts, social initiatives, and resilience to transform the neighborhood's image and foster a safer and more prosperous environment.

We will venture into the heart of Siloé to uncover stories from its inhabitants with the help of our local guide. We will visit the viewpoint “Yo Amo A Siloe” where you will be captivated by the commune's most breathtaking panoramic views. You'll have the chance to capture selfies with stunning cityscapes.

Next, we head towards The Ruins of Silowood, a site rich in tales from the area’s industrial past. These ruins, once structures of the film industry, now serve as a historical and cultural marker of Siloé's transformation and identity over the years.

We will pause briefly to savor a snack crafted by local vendors, indulging in the delightful flavors preserved within the commune. Empanadas and Cholao are the highlights of this culinary break.

The 3 km journey culminates with a visit to La Estrella de Siloé, an iconic monument that embodies the hope and resilience of the community. You'll gain insight into its significance and value to Siloé's residents.

After an enriching experience connecting you with the strength and spirit of this Cali community, we will return to the meeting point.
