Tour Description
Our adventure begins by picking up guests from their accommodations in Puerto Tranquilo, heading towards Lago General Carrera. We'll travel 52 km west through the breathtaking Valle Exploradores, a journey that will take approximately 90 minutes.
Upon arriving at Valle Exploradores, we'll prepare the technical equipment and receive an introductory briefing from our expert guides, who will be with us throughout the experience.
Our hike commences in a perennial forest, allowing us to identify various native species and spot some birds. Gradually, we'll ascend the frontal moraine of the glacier, reaching a viewpoint that offers a panoramic view of the glacier's summit, Mount San Valentín, and Lake Bayo.
We will proceed along the moraine, beginning our trek on ice covered with stones and sand. As we reach the pristine ice (after about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the group's pace), we'll pause for a snack and gear up to safely walk on the white ice.
Here is where the trek becomes most exhilarating: we will experience the live ice beneath our feet, explore the enchanting ice caves, marvel at the blue hues of its ancient pure waters, and understand how the glacier descends from the Ice Field, transforming into a river that flows to the sea.
At the conclusion of our tour, we'll return to Valle Exploradores to catch the transfer back to Puerto Río Tranquilo.
