Since 1980, the Laguna de los Pozuelos has been under the protection and preservation of the National Parks Administration, designated as a Natural Monument due to its crucial role as a nesting ground for various migratory birds. Among the most notable are flamingos, which gather here in an astonishing assembly of 30,000 individuals. Their presence in the lagoon offers a breathtaking spectacle, especially from May to September. Upon arrival, you'll witness a magnificent scene: flamingos resembling a vast pink expanse amidst this extraordinary landscape.
Your journey begins with a pick-up from Purmamarca at around 9:00 a.m. From there, we proceed to the town of Abra Pampa, where you can delve into the local culture. Here, you'll explore an artisan market brimming with handmade treasures crafted by the region's skilled inhabitants. Additionally, you'll meet a cooperative of weavers who will showcase the richness and artistry of traditional weaving. From there, we head to this remarkable lagoon with its flamingo-dotted scenery.
