The City of La Rioja was established during the era of the Spanish conquest by Juan Ramirez de Velasco. As the capital of the province bearing the same name, this city serves as a gateway to explore various parks of remarkable beauty, including the renowned Talampaya National Park.
During our tour, you'll discover some of the city's most significant landmarks, such as the Minor Basilica San Nicolás de Bari, the Municipality, and numerous charming buildings. We'll also explore the picturesque residential neighborhood before heading to Las Padercitas.
Las Padercitas features a significant set of adobe ruins dating back to 1630, preserved by a large protective stone wall. This site houses the Church where San Francisco Solano famously halted a group of indigenous people intent on destroying the city.
