Tour Description
Our journey begins in La Rioja, taking us through the city's western residential zone, including notable sites such as the Padercitas, Quebrada, El Túnel, El Dique de Los Sauces, Villa Sanagasta, Salamanca caves, and the scenic Huaco Valley. In this valley, we will traverse the Huaco slope, which offers breathtaking vistas as we embark on a route along a series of charming coasts skirting the Sierra del Velasco: Agua Blanca, Las Peñas, and Chuquis. Here, we will pause to explore the Castro Barros home and its captivating house-museum.
Our exploration will proceed along the coastline with visits to Pinchas, Aminga, and concluding at Anillaco. From Anillaco, we will make our way back to La Rioja. Depending on current conditions and road accessibility, our return journey may be via the mountain road or by way of the Lord of La Peña, a monumental solitary rock in a vast barren land that resembles the head of Christ. This site attracts thousands of pilgrims from all paths during Holy Week to celebrate Easter.
