Descripción del Tour:
At the crack of dawn, we will collect you from your accommodations in Puerto Iguazú and set off towards San Ignacio, located roughly 230 km away. Amidst the lush greenery emerges the San Ignacio Reduction relief, the remnants of a civilization crafted by Jesuits and constructed by Guaraní hands that was renowned for its efficiency nearly 400 years ago, which also led to its demise. The temple's façade, crafted entirely from pink sandstone in 1610, features an American baroque design restored by scientists in the previous century. This historic site lay hidden beneath the jungle for almost two hundred years.
Each year, thousands of tourists flock to visit. Situated in the center of San Ignacio town, along route number 12, it is 60 kilometers from Posadas. The temple's right wall is currently in pristine condition, thanks to a team of specialists who worked on it during the summer. This restoration is possible due to a generous $50,000 donation from the World Monuments Foundation, ensuring that gradually, all the monument's walls, which are prone to being covered with microorganisms due to the region's tropical climate, are restored to their former glory.
After delving into the culture and heritage of the San Ignacio Ruins, we will proceed to the Wanda Mines, established by Polish settlers in 1936.
Named after a Polish princess who adored gems, Wanda is a town nestled on the banks of the Paraná River, where visitors are greeted by an entrance sign and artisans showcasing various stones. Visitors can explore the mine's caves and witness the precise moment operators perform explosions to continue drilling the basalt.
Before we head back, we will stop at a local Yerbera. Here, you can explore the facilities and sample local infusions. Once the tour concludes, you'll have a few minutes to spare. If you wish, you can purchase souvenirs and regional sweets.
Finally, after unearthing the treasures of the Missionary Jungle, you will be transported back to your hotels in Puerto Iguazú at the end of the day.
