At 9 AM or 4 PM, depending on your chosen tour, passengers are picked up in a comfortable 4x4 vehicle from their hotels. Once everyone is ready, the journey begins with an ascent through the Huyliche and Calafate hills, eventually reaching the private Estancia 25 de Mayo National Park.
This remarkable 4x4 adventure takes us to the most secluded areas of Deep Patagonia. Departing from the city of El Calafate and heading south, we reach panoramic viewpoints where we admire the vastness of the landscape, enjoying stunning views of the Verlika and Baguales hills, which form the southern border with Chile. As we follow the course of the Calafate stream, we observe changes in the flora as we ascend, eventually arriving at the Villalba family outpost, the first settlers of this estancia. Here, we take in the surrounding scenery while learning about the family's history. As we pass by the property, we'll get a brief glimpse of the rural activities that occur on the site.
Next, we disembark for the fossil trekking, a 30-minute exploration where we uncover archaeological sites dating back to the Ice Age. Immersed in the steppe, we encounter various species inhabiting the area, with our guides providing insights into their lifestyles.
Upon returning to the ravine, we indulge in a delicious country stew at the "La Sección" stand.
Following lunch or dinner, we begin our return journey to El Calafate.
