At the scheduled time, we will depart from our selected hotels to embark on the iconic Route 40. Along this journey, you will have the opportunity to view the stunning Argentino Lake, the Santa Cruz River, and the La Leona River, while enjoying a breathtaking panoramic view of the Andes Mountains, featuring the majestic Fitz Roy Mountain.
Our first stop will be approximately 15 minutes at the Hotel La Leona, an important historical site, where you can resupply and explore its quaint museum. We will then continue our route along the southern edge of Lake Viedma towards Cerro Los Hornos, ultimately arriving at Estancia Santa Teresita.
Here, we will disembark to begin our trek. We will hike through the land’s depression, discovering petrified logs scattered across the surface, some measuring up to 1.20 meters in diameter! You will also encounter fossil remains of various dinosaur species that once roamed this area. The trek lasts 3 hours, with time allocated for lunch within the paleontological site.
Following the trek, we will head back to La Leona to utilize the facilities before returning to our selected hotels in El Calafate.
