Descripción del Tour
Our adventure kicks off with a hotel pickup in El Calafate, starting at 7:30 am. By 9:30 am, we arrive at the starting point of our excursion at the deserted stop on Route N° 40, Luz Divina - km 663. Here, our expert guides will conduct a short safety briefing before we begin the journey.
Once prepared, we adjust the kayaks (passengers in tandem kayaks, guides in single ones); and we engage in a safety and evacuation training, practicing rowing techniques, turns, and stops, and learning about the river's dynamics. We then embark on the downstream navigation.
As we paddle down the river, we will marvel at the breathtaking landscapes and the striking contrast between the ochre hues of the steppe and the turquoise glacial waters that enchanted explorers like Darwin, Moreno, and Moyano. Groups are limited to 8 people to ensure personalized attention.
The first kayaking leg lasts approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes (10 km). At Cerro Fortaleza (Estancia la Meseta), we pause for lunch and embark on a hike through Cerro los Hornos to a viewpoint with views of fossilized bones and logs. After a brief rest, we return to the kayaks for the final 1-hour stretch (6 km), observing geological features and the steppe vegetation. In total, we cover approximately 14 km in our kayaks, ending at Estancia La Irene (Arroyo Turbio) where the excursion concludes.
Once at The Estancia, we can enjoy a snack with hot beverages to recharge.
Return to El Calafate in the afternoon.
