Descripción del Tour
Once we pick you up from your hotel in Lima, we will embark on a city tour starting with a visit to the magnificent Larco Museum, nestled in the traditional neighborhood of Pueblo Libre. Established in 1926 by the renowned Peruvian archaeologist Rafael Larco Hoyle, this museum is set in a beautiful mansion with stunning gardens that date back to the eighteenth century.
The Larco Museum boasts an extensive collection of over 5000 pieces of pre-Columbian art crafted from gold and silver, along with ceramics and erotic art. As we move through the museum, you will journey through time to explore the fascinating halls and learn about ancient Peruvian civilizations.
Our tour then takes us to the historic center of Lima. This area, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988, is home to remarkable squares, colonial mansions, and a rich tapestry of history. We will visit the Casa de Aliaga, a colonial house built in 1536, which is filled with invaluable art and history. This architectural gem is still occupied by descendants of the Jeronimo de Aliaga y Ramirez family, a Spanish conquistador and ally of Francisco Pizarro.
Our journey continues to the Plaza de Armas, the site where Lima was founded in 1535 and where Peru's Independence was officially declared in 1821. During the viceroyalty era, this square served as a market and was also the venue for executions.
Here, you will have the chance to admire historical landmarks such as the Government Palace, the Archbishop’s Palace, the Municipal Palace, and other significant colonial buildings. We will also visit the Cathedral of Lima, a Cultural Heritage Site constructed in the sixteenth century by Spanish conquerors.
Following our visit, you will be comfortably transferred back to your hotel.
