Canyon Of The Lost Day Trip

In the early morning, we will collect you from your hotel or the bus station in the city of Ica to embark on the incredible Canyon of the Lost tour, situated to the south of the Santiago district.

Our journey will take approximately 2 hours on the south Panamerican Highway until we reach the district of Ocucaje. Before venturing into the Ocucaje desert, we'll pause briefly to allow you to purchase fresh food, fruits, and drinks (optional).

During our trip to the canyon, we will stop at the Pampa de Piedras, providing time for some entertaining photos. Continuing our journey, we'll arrive at the viewpoint of the Canyon of the Lost.

This natural marvel, discovered in 2011, stretches over 2 kilometers and plunges 150 meters deep. The canyon was formed by the erosion of the Seco River, which joins the Ica River and eventually flows into the Pacific Ocean. Among the fauna you might spot are birds like vultures and crows.

Our hike begins on a sandy path, offering a chance to admire marine fossils such as whales and sharks. This area is believed to have been an ancient ocean floor, dating back 20 to 30 million years.

We'll explore the various levels of this naturally sculpted rock formation, with intricate wall carvings and small lagoons along the route. You'll have the opportunity to see the face of the Puma, a natural formation resembling a feline visage. Below this image is a still water pool known as the Eye of the Fish.

Other highlights include the Plaza Caracol and the remarkable oasis formed by the confluence with the Ica River.

After an unforgettable two-hour experience, we will exit the canyon and commence our return to the city of Ica. Once we arrive, we will drop you off at your hotel or the bus station.
