*Tucumán City Tour: Explore Plaza Independencia and its surroundings, including the Government House, Temple of San Francisco, Cathedral Church, 400 San Martín Street, La Merced Church, and Avellaneda House. We also visit the 9 de Julio Park and the Casa Obispo Colombres Sugar Industry Museum. Around Plaza Urquiza, you'll see the Legislature, Casino, San Martín Theater, and the National School. A visit to Yerba Buena, known as the Garden City, reveals a residential and lushly wooded area. Overnight in Tucumán.
DAY 02. TUCUMÁN - CAFAYATE.
Set out for Cafayate, traveling through Tafí del Valle, Amaicha, and Quilmes.
Route 307 guides us up to the Valleys, entering the Quebrada del Río Los Sosa. We pause at the “El Indio” monument. Ascending further, we reach El Mollar to explore Los Menhires. Next, we visit the charming town of Tafí del Valle. The RP 307 continues its zigzag ascent into the Calchaquíes Valleys towards Abra del Infiernillo, standing at 3,042 meters above sea level.
In Amaicha del Valle, we explore the main square and its surroundings. Joining RN 40, we approach the Sacred City of Quilmes on the left. At the hill's base, the reconstructions of the residential area capped by a fortress and two forts on each side are visible. We tour on foot the last stronghold of Aboriginal resistance against Spanish conquest. The renowned RN 40 disappears into the valley heading north, passing Colalao del Valle along the way.
Cafayate: Known for its sunny climate and excellent wine, greets us with vineyards sprawling under the sun. We visit a local winery. Overnight in Cafayate.
DAY 03. CAFAYATE - SALTA.
Cafayate, located in Salta Province, is a key destination in the Calchaquíes Valleys due to its thriving wine industry. Its history, shaped by Calchaquí, Spanish, immigrant, and Creole influences, gives the city a unique colonial and baroque style from the late 19th century. You'll visit the cellars to taste the distinctive Torrontés wine. Then, depart for Salta through the stunning Quebrada de las Conchas, where fascinating formations sculpted by wind and water await: the dunes, the toad, the bishop, the devil's throat, the castles, the amphitheatre, among others. Overnight in Salta.
DAY 04. SALTA.
Free morning.
In the afternoon, embark on a City Tour of Salta: Discover the city's most captivating sites, including the Cathedral Basilica, Cultural Center of the Americas, Historical Museum of the North (Cabildo), Minor Basilica of San Francisco, San Bernardo Convent, Monument to Güemes, and ascend Cerro San Bernardo for a panoramic city view. Visit the summer village of San Lorenzo on the city's outskirts, known for its subtropical microclimate, and explore the Artisan Market, featuring crafts with certified origin from across the province. Overnight in Salta.
DAY 05. SALTA - HUMAHUACA.
Embark on a journey through the Quebrada, a World Heritage Site, where the vibrant landscapes and colorful hills blend with the equally vibrant cultures inhabiting this area. It's a journey of social connection and an insight into the ancestral. Begin at Purmamarca to witness the Cerro de los Siete Colores, the Church, and the square's Artisan Market. Pass by Posta de Hornillos, continuing to Tilcara to visit the Pucará and Archaeological Museum. Proceed to Huacalera, a pass along the Tropic of Capricorn, offering views of the hill known as the Pollera de la Colla. After lunch, return to view the Painter's Palette from the road framing Maimara. Arrive in San Salvador de Jujuy to visit the Hall of the Flag and the Cathedral Church, with its distinctive wooden pulpit gilded in gold and Lola Mora's statues.
