Frequently Asked Questions

The classic Puerto Madryn tour package typically includes airport-hotel-airport transfers, accommodation with breakfast, a Spanish-speaking guide, and iconic excursions in Argentine Patagonia. The typical itinerary includes a city tour of Puerto Madryn and a full-day excursion to the Valdés Peninsula with a visit to Puerto Pirámides; whale watching is offered as a highlight during the season. Subject to availability, additional options such as Punta Tombo (penguins), Gaiman (Welsh tea), or El Doradillo (shore whale watching) may be added. Flights, entrance fees to protected areas, port taxes, unspecified meals, and gratuities are generally not included. The order of activities may vary depending on weather and tides to ensure safety and the best possible travel experience.

For nature tourism, the southern right whale season in Puerto Madryn and Península Valdés generally runs from June to December (peaking between September and November). Magellanic penguins can be seen at Punta Tombo from approximately September to March, with greater activity in spring. Sea lions, elephant seals, birds, and guanacos can be observed year-round. The Patagonian climate is windy and changeable; it's advisable to travel in layers. Spring and late winter are very popular, so it's recommended to book tours and accommodations in advance. Outside of peak season, you'll find better rates and fewer other visitors on excursions.

Whale watching tours typically depart from Puerto Pirámides with licensed operators, using safe boats, life jackets, and a bilingual guide specializing in marine wildlife. The trip, which lasts approximately 1 to 2 hours, is scheduled according to sea conditions, wind, and tides. Although the probability of seeing whales is very high during the season, no operator can guarantee sightings, as they are wildlife. If weather conditions prevent departure, rescheduling or alternatives such as coastal whale watching in El Doradillo (during specific months) are usually offered. We recommend checking cancellation/rescheduling policies at the time of booking and arriving early for tour check-in.

This nature tourism trip is of low to moderate difficulty, with short walks on trails and boardwalks. Pack layered technical clothing, a waterproof and windproof jacket, comfortable shoes with non-slip soles, and a hat and gloves outside of the summer months. Add sunscreen, sunglasses, a reusable water bottle, a zoom camera, and binoculars to maximize your photo safari. If you are prone to seasickness, consider taking vertigo medication. Keep cash on hand for entrance fees to protected areas and port taxes. Inform us in advance of any mobility restrictions to coordinate accessibility and assistance from your Spanish-speaking guide. The weather can change rapidly; be prepared for wind and spray.

The price of the Puerto Madryn Classic package varies depending on the season, hotel category, type of excursions, and availability. To guarantee your rate and reservation, a deposit is required upon booking confirmation, with the balance due before departure. Changes and cancellations are subject to the tour operator's and local service providers' policies; booking further in advance usually results in lower penalties. Please review the refund policy for inclement weather or whale watching rescheduling. We accept standard payment methods (credit card/bank transfer). We recommend purchasing travel insurance. You will receive your voucher, pick-up times, and assistance contacts 24–48 hours prior to departure. Please present a valid ID/passport and verify provincial entry requirements.
