Day 02
Perito Moreno Glacier and Nautical Safari
Our first venture of the day, starting our journey, takes us to Los Glaciares National Park. On reaching the glacier, we begin from the main balcony and then explore the walkways at our own pace until the prearranged meeting time with the guide. These walkways provide various angles of the glacier from their viewpoints, allowing you to marvel at this astounding natural wonder.
For lunch, the Park offers a service area with both a restaurant and a snack bar available.
Subsequently, we embark on a roughly one-hour navigation across Lago Rico, offering a close-up view of the icebergs that have broken off from the Perito Moreno glacier's ice walls.
Upon reaching the southern tip of the Canal de los Témpanos, the vessel maintains a safe distance from the glacier wall and navigates its entire length, presenting an opportunity to observe the magnificent walls of the Perito Moreno glacier and their ongoing collapses into the waters of Lago Rico from a completely unique vantage point.
Free evening.

Frequently Asked Questions
The classic El Calafate tour package typically includes airport-hotel-airport transfers, accommodation with breakfast, a tour to the Perito Moreno Glacier with a bilingual guide and time on the walkways, and a short boat trip on Lake Argentino (depending on the option selected). It generally does not include flights, lunches/dinners, or the entrance fee to Los Glaciares National Park, which is paid in cash at the entrance. Optional excursions such as Mini Trekking or the All Glaciers Tour can also be added. Check the voucher and the operator's terms and conditions to confirm services, schedules, and hotel accommodations. During peak season, it is advisable to book upgrades and boat trips in advance to ensure availability.
The typical package duration is 3 to 4 days (2-3 nights), ideal for experiencing the highlights of Argentine Patagonia. Suggested itinerary: Day 1, arrival in El Calafate, transfer to the hotel, and free time. Day 2, excursion to the Perito Moreno Glacier with a guide and optional boat trip. Day 3, free day for activities such as the All Glaciers boat tour, a stay at a ranch with dinner and a show, or trekking. Day 4, departure and transfer to the airport. Schedules may vary depending on weather and season. Please confirm pick-up times, gangway times, and boat times on your voucher and with the local operator the day before.
The best time to visit El Calafate is from October to April (spring-summer), with longer days and a greater selection of excursions and boat trips on Lake Argentino. Patagonian weather is changeable: you can experience sun, wind, and rain all in the same day. In winter (June-August), there are fewer services, but snowy landscapes and lower prices. Average temperatures range from 5 to 20°C in high season and 0 to 8°C in winter. Winds can be strong in Los Glaciares National Park; bring thermal layers and a windbreaker. Check the forecast 48 hours before your tour to adjust your clothing and schedule accordingly.
For the Perito Moreno Glacier excursion and boat trips, we recommend layering your clothing: thermal base layer, fleece, waterproof jacket, and windbreaker; comfortable pants, hat, gloves, and scarf. Wear hiking boots or shoes with good non-slip soles. Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, a reusable water bottle, and cash for the park entrance fee. Difficulty level: low; the walkways and viewpoints are well-marked, with sections accessible for families and seniors. Activities such as the Mini Trekking on the glacier have age and fitness requirements; please check conditions, weight, and any special footwear requirements before booking.
You can book the El Calafate Classic Package online with payment by credit card or bank transfer. During peak season, it's advisable to confirm 30-60 days in advance. Cancellation and change policies vary depending on the operator and the rate (refundable or non-refundable); request written conditions and check deadlines. You will receive an electronic voucher with details of transfers, hotel, and excursions; send your flight information to coordinate pick-up. We recommend purchasing travel insurance that covers delays, weather, and medical assistance. Bring your valid passport or national ID and, if applicable, your immigration card. Verify local taxes and any additional costs not included.
