Day 1: Arrival in Purmamarca – Free Afternoon

Upon arriving in Purmamarca, guests will independently make their way to their selected accommodation. After checking in at El Refugio de Coquena, the rest of the afternoon is yours to freely discover this picturesque Andean village at your leisure. We suggest visiting the handicraft market in the main square, perfect for browsing and purchasing unique textiles, ceramics, and authentic local products crafted by regional artisans. Another unmissable activity is a walk along the renowned Paseo de los Colorados, a scenic three-kilometer loop that encircles the Cerro de los Siete Colores and offers breathtaking panoramic views of the vibrant landscape. At dusk, the sunlight bathes the mountains in warm colors, creating an unforgettable visual spectacle and the ideal start to your journey.

Day 2: Excursion to Mirador El Hornocal (Cerro de los 14 Colores)

After breakfast, embark on a day of exploration through the Humahuaca Gorge, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The excursion includes visits to some of the region’s most traditional villages, with stops to appreciate the local scenery and culture.

The first visit is to Uquía, a charming village famed for its 17th-century church, which preserves a remarkable collection of Cuzco School paintings depicting arquebusier angels. Next, continue to Humahuaca, where you’ll have free time for lunch (not included) and to wander its cobbled streets, discover the main church, and admire the impressive monument to the Heroes of Independence. The highlight of the day is visiting the El Hornocal viewpoint, situated over 4,300 meters above sea level. The route offers dramatic high-altitude landscapes along the way. From the lookout, marvel at the spectacular Cerro de los 14 Colores, a mountain range renowned for its extraordinary palette of colors—truly one of northern Argentina’s most remarkable sights.

Day 3: Full-Day Excursion to the Iruya Valley

After breakfast, set out northward on a scenic adventure to one of the region’s most enchanting and remote destinations: Iruya. This immersive full-day journey traverses mountains and valleys seemingly frozen in time, reaching elevations above 4,000 meters before descending winding roads into the village.

Iruya is truly nestled among the mountains, with adobe houses perched on steep hillsides and cobbled alleys inviting exploration. During your visit, discover its small colonial church, browse the local market, and soak in the peaceful, almost magical atmosphere. En route, you may also stop at the hamlet of Iturbe and the Abra del Cóndor viewpoint, which offers sweeping panoramic vistas of the valley below.

This excursion delivers not only stunning landscapes but also the chance to engage with the living traditions of indigenous communities and gain insight into life in one of Jujuy’s most secluded regions.

Day 4: Salinas Grandes – End of the Tour

After checking out, the final excursion of your trip begins—a truly spectacular experience. This day takes you to the breathtaking Salinas Grandes, one of the most iconic and photographed sites in Argentina’s Altiplano.

The tour includes the ascent of the stunning Cuesta de Lipán, a serpentine road rising to 4,170 meters above sea level and offering unforgettable vistas at every turn. On arrival at the salt flats, you’ll be greeted by an endless white expanse. Here you have free time to walk across the flats, capture unique photos, and learn about the traditional salt extraction methods still practiced today.

On the way back to Purmamarca, there is a stop at Puesto Sey, a small rural community where you can gain a deeper understanding of life in the Jujuy Puna and sample regional delicacies like goat cheese or homemade sweets (optional).
