This tour is crafted to deliver the ultimate Villa de Leyva experience all in one day.
The itinerary is split into two parts: an action-packed morning filled with exhilarating activities, and an enriching evening immersed in the history and culture of this beautiful colonial town.
- Morning: Adventure and Adrenaline
Our adventure begins at 9 AM at the designated meeting point. From there, we travel to Magiaventura Adventure Park, just 30 minutes from Villa de Leyva’s downtown. At this park, experience thrilling activities that will challenge your bravery and offer breathtaking panoramic views. Start with the aerial bikes, soaring over 35 meters above the ground. This 300-meter roundtrip journey takes you from mountain to mountain, allowing you to take in the stunning scenery surrounding Villa de Leyva. Feel the excitement of pedaling in midair as you admire the spectacular landscape.
Next, enjoy the seated canopy zip line. Glide along this exhilarating 300-meter ride at a height of 30 meters, feeling the rush of adrenaline while taking in unique views of the mountainous terrain and the captivating environment.
After these adventures, we’ll head to the Blue Wells, one of Villa de Leyva’s most remarkable natural wonders. Here, you’ll hop on an ATV, shared with another participant, to further explore this incredible area. The ATV tour leads you through sandy paths and scenic vistas, providing the perfect opportunity to admire the crystal-clear turquoise waters of the Blue Wells.
At the end of the morning, around 1 PM, we’ll return to Villa de Leyva’s downtown, where you’ll have free time for lunch, sampling local flavors, visiting artisan shops, or simply unwinding as you soak up the town’s charming atmosphere.
- Night: History and Culture
At 7 PM, regroup at the starting point to begin the evening tour aboard a colorful Chiva, a traditional Colombian bus that will guide us through the historic and cultural highlights of Villa de Leyva’s cobblestone streets and most iconic landmarks.
Our panoramic route starts at the Antonio Nariño Museum and Park, where you’ll discover the life and legacy of one of Colombia’s independence heroes—all from the comfort of the chiva.
We’ll continue to the Royal Liquor Factory, a site steeped in history, where our guide will explain the traditional liquor-making process and its significance in the local economy.
The journey proceeds past the San Agustín Cloister, an impressive colonial structure now home to art exhibits and cultural events. Your guide will share insights into the colonial architecture and the various artistic displays as we admire the cloister from the chiva. The next stop is the Mesopotamia Mill, a restored historic water mill offering a fascinating glimpse into colonial-era technology and daily life.
We’ll then visit the Convent of the Discalced Carmelites, a serene and spiritual site reflecting Villa de Leyva’s rich religious traditions. From the chiva, we’ll observe this still-active convent while our guide discusses monastic life and religious architecture.
To cap off the evening, we’ll head to the semi-arid area at the Villa de Leyva viewpoint. Here, you’ll be greeted with a warm, traditional cocktail called “Canelazo,” and you can unwind by a cozy bonfire beneath the starry sky. Enjoy roasting marshmallows, music, dancing, and, if weather allows, a spectacular stargazing session under the clear night sky.
This magical day concludes as we return to Villa de Leyva’s downtown around 10 PM.
