Shared Walking Tour Of The Historic Center And Gethsemane

The tour begins with a meeting at the Camellón de los Mártires, Plaza de Cervantes, where you will be greeted by our local guides who are passionate about the history of Cartagena. From there, we will begin a walking tour through the charming streets of the Walled City, considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. We will begin by learning about the indigenous people and the impact of the arrival of the Spanish, before moving towards the Clock Tower, also known as the "Golden Key of Cartagena", a symbol of the city. From here, we`ll cross Plaza del Ecuador and Plaza del Esclavista, following the route of slavery that marked the history of Cartagena.

On the way, we`ll stop at Portal de los Dulces, a historic site linked to women`s traditions during the time of slavery. We`ll continue our route to Plaza de la Aduana, where you`ll learn about the process of trading goods, including those of enslaved people. We will continue with a visit to emblematic places such as the Museum of Modern Art and the Gold Museum (admission not included), which house representative pieces of Caribbean and Colombian culture.

We will advance towards the Plaza San Pedro Claver, a site of great religious and social importance, and continue towards the Plaza Simón Bolívar, a tribute to the liberator. The tour will conclude at Plaza de la Proclamación, passing through Román Street, where you will learn about the historical importance of these spaces in the context of independence. Finally, we will visit Centenario Park, a green lung of Cartagena, to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

To close, we will explore the Getsemaní neighborhood, where we will walk down the colorful Callejón Ancho, famous for its graffiti murals and unique architecture. The tour will culminate in Plaza de la Trinidad, where you can hear the sounds of salsa and African champeta, which give life to this lively neighborhood.
