Tour To Commune 20

The tour kicks off at 09 AM at the specified meeting location.

Our initial destination will be the MioCable station, where the cable car will transport us to Comuna 20. The history of this transit system is deeply linked with the aim to provide development opportunities to a historically underserved community. Since its launch, the MioCable has signified more than just transportation; it stands as a symbol of progress and empowerment for the residents of the commune and its neighboring areas.

From the cable car, we’ll capture unparalleled panoramic views of the commune and the city, offering us a chance to admire Cali's urban development and beauty from above.

Upon reaching the Commune, we'll receive a concise introduction to the area and its heritage. Comuna 20 encompasses 11 neighborhoods, prominently featuring the renowned Siloé, which has faced significant challenges, including times of violence, economic hardships, and conflicts related to drug trafficking and illegal armed groups.

Despite the scars left by those turbulent times, the residents of Siloé have come together through collective effort, social programs, and determination to transform the neighborhood's image and forge a safer and more prosperous environment.

We will venture into the heart of Siloé to hear from our local guide about the stories of its residents. We'll visit the Mirador “Yo Amo A Siloe”, a viewpoint where you’ll be amazed by the stunning panoramic views of the commune. You’ll have the opportunity to snap selfies with breathtaking cityscapes.

Our journey continues to The Ruins of Silowood, a site preserving tales from the area’s industrial past. These ruins, once structures of the film industry, now stand as a historical and cultural testament to the transformation and identity of Siloé over the years.

We'll pause briefly to enjoy a snack crafted by local businesses, savoring flavors that have thrived in the commune and will tantalize our taste buds. Empanadas and Cholao will be the highlights of this stop.

We'll wrap up the 3 km journey with a visit to La Star of Siloé, an iconic structure that embodies the hope and resilience of the community. You’ll discover its significance and importance to the people of Siloé.

We will return to the meeting point after an experience that will have connected you with the strength and spirit of this Cali community.
