We will convene at your hotel in Bogotá at 2:00 pm and commence our journey northward towards Zipaquirá. As we travel, the driver will narrate the route, while the urban scenery gradually transforms into stunning green landscapes, dotted with crops and grazing animals.
Our initial stop will be the remarkable Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá, a former salt mine that has been transformed into a magnificent underground architectural masterpiece. We will descend 180 meters below the earth to marvel at the Stations of the Cross, depicting the final steps of Jesus, and proceed to the Great Central Dome, home to the world's largest underground salt cross.
Beyond being a symbol of faith for the miners who toiled in the salt mines, the Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral stands as an outstanding example of engineering and architecture. You can wander through its impressive corridors, chapels, and sculptures carved from salt, which illustrate biblical narratives and the religious heritage of Colombia.
Upon exiting the cathedral, take the opportunity to explore the nearby area, enjoying spectacular views of the town of Zipaquirá.
Around 06:30 pm, we will proceed to Andrés Carne de Res in Chía, a vibrant and colorful dining establishment that celebrates the rich culture and traditions of Colombia. Here, you'll have the chance to savor a variety of delectable Colombian dishes, enjoy live music, dancing, and the lively festive atmosphere that defines this iconic venue.
The tour and dining at the restaurant are at your own leisure. The driver will await you outside the restaurant to take you back to the hotel at approximately 12 am.
