In the heart of Quindío, at 1,350 meters above sea level, a family farm with more than 70 years of continuous production opens its doors to show what is rarely seen from the inside: the complete journey of cacao, from the plant to the tablet.

Immerse yourself in a journey that connects four cropscacao, coffee, plantain, and guadua bamboo —under a production system that the family has developed and refined for generations. Enjoy a guided tour led by professionals on a working farm with its own quality control laboratory and artisanal chocolate production facilities, where each stage of the process is explained and contextualized.

The tour concludes at the farm`s traditional inn, with a tasting that brings together the two main crops of the day: a cup made with coffee and cocoa from their own origin.

Tour Description

The tour begins at the agreed-upon meeting point, with a transfer to the farm in Quimbaya , located on the road to Filandia. From the moment you arrive, the focus is on cacao : its plant, its fruit, its life cycle, and the artisanal process that transforms each bean into single-origin chocolate. The guide will introduce you to the story of a family that has been cultivating this land for over seven decades and has developed a production model that is hard to find elsewhere.

You`ll tour the cacao plantations with a guide who will explain each stage of cacao production : its development cycle, the ripening stages, and what makes this fruit so special in this region. Colombia is the world`s third-largest producer of fine aroma cacao , a category that represents less than 5% of global production and defines the highest quality and most complex chocolates. Quimbaya is part of that map, and at this cacao farm in Quindío, you can see, touch, and understand its origins.

The highlight of the tour is the visit to the artisanal chocolate production and quality control lab , a dedicated space on the farm where the bean-to-bar process is completed: you participate in the transformation of cacao, from bean to bar. Here, the farm`s production system also comes to life—the coffee, plantains, and bamboo you see along the way aren`t decorative crops; they`re part of a model the family has developed and refined over generations.

The tour concludes at the farm`s traditional inn, where coffee and cacao come together for a tasting of locally sourced products. It`s the perfect ending to an artisanal chocolate experience that, in just a few hours, takes you through centuries of agricultural culture in the Coffee Region.
