Today, we embark on an enchanting journey to explore the cultural and natural wonders of southern Chile with our full-day excursion to the breathtaking Lago Ranco. Our day begins with a timely pickup from the hotel in Valdivia, setting the stage for this thrilling adventure southward.
Our first stop is the charming town of Río Bueno, nestled on the banks of the majestic Lago Ranco. Here, we will delve into the historic Spanish fort "San José de Alcudía," a National Monument managed by the University of Southern Chile. We'll uncover the captivating history of this site and its significance during the colonial period.
Next, we will visit the "Arturo Moler" Museum in Piedra del Águila, where a remarkable collection showcasing the rich Mapuche culture awaits us. Through exhibits that deeply connect us with this indigenous community, we will gain insights into their traditions, art, and way of life.
Our adventure continues along the impressive southern shores of Lake Ranco. The scenery here is indescribably beautiful, featuring more than 11 islands gracing the lake, including the mysterious Huapi Island, home to a Huilliche community.
